FAQ
Find the answer To your question
What is the difference between a filling, inlay, and crown?
A filling is the most conservative option — resin placed directly into the tooth. An inlay or onlay is a lab-fabricated indirect restoration for larger cavities where a filling may not provide adequate strength. A crown encases the entire tooth and is used for the most significantly damaged teeth.
How long do restorations last?
Composite fillings typically last 7–10+ years. Crowns and bridges last 10–15+ years with good care. Implants can last a lifetime. Longevity depends on oral hygiene, diet, and regular check-ups.
Is a tooth always worth saving?
We strongly prefer saving natural teeth wherever possible. However, when a tooth is structurally unrestorable or the cost-benefit of saving it does not serve you well, we discuss extraction and replacement options openly and honestly.
Are dentures still a good option?
Dentures can be an appropriate solution, particularly when multiple teeth are missing and implant treatment is not feasible. Modern dentures are more comfortable and natural-looking than those of earlier generations. Implant-supported overdentures offer added stability for those who want more security.
Do I need a crown after a root canal?
In most cases yes, particularly for back teeth. A crown protects the treated tooth from fracture, which is a significant risk after root canal therapy. We factor crown costs into our treatment planning so there are no surprises.
